We are thrilled to announce a new partnership with Portland Public Schools. We will soon begin piloting music programs in support of Black Student Success in PPS. To kick things off, we invite you to join us Sunday, June 8th for Rhythms of Tomorrow, a joyful district-wide concert showcase for Black Music Month!
This free event is open to the public and geared to support 5th grade Black families in PPS who are preparing for middle school. This will be an opportunity for families to learn what’s possible for their child’s grade 6-12 experience in PPS, while celebrating our city's rich Black music heritage.
Our program will showcase a variety of musical performances and storytelling by Black Portlanders that uplift Black history and Black excellence. In addition to featuring youth performers, we will highlight Black musician performances including:
Blues Guitar w/ Norman Sylvester
Gospel Singers Arietta Ward, LaRhonda Steele, Nafisaria Mathews & MaryEtta Callier
Hip Hop Beatmakers Tony Ozier & Jumbo
Jazz Trio ft. Machado Mijiga, Dae Bryant & Robert Rodriguez
